The F1 2011 specification Circuit de Gilles Villenueve is a track that can and must be attacked hard. Gently massaging the car through the corners is not the way to a fast lap time. The secret is to get your rage on and smash the car through the corners and you'll be rewarded with a fast time.
Turn 1: Enter the corner in 3rd gear and shift down to 2nd midway between this and turn 2.
Turn 2: Hug the inside and shift into early 3rd getting on the DRS and KERS early.
Turn 3: Brake at the 80m mark and shift down to 3rd. Cut the corner early, getting heaps of curb, straight lining as much as possible for turn 4.
Turn 4: This corner can be cut by a large amount without recieving a penalty, so make use of that grass but don't power on too much whilst on the grass. Get on the DRS as soon as you're off the grass.
Turn 5: Almost hit the wall on the inside (right) and stay right, to brake early for 6.
Turn 6 & 7: Cut the corner across the red curbing in second and tap the brake for turn 7 before getting on the gas at 90% throttle. Once your half way past the apex to the track out, apply DRS and KERS.
Turn 8 & 9: Brake at about 90m and shift down to third. Turn early and run over the inside curb, taking your car to the apex of turn 9 where you apply DRS and a burst of KERS.
Turn 10 & 11: Brake at 80m and shift down to 2nd. Run the car out against the wall before getting on the throttle and short shifting through to 4th. KERS and DRS over the bend that is turn 11 and down the straight.
Turn 12 & 13: Brake down to 3rd and smash it over the curb through turn 12 and 13 and get back on the DRS when you land :).
